Definition

Resonance is the ability of an analytical model to align with the user’s mental logic, expectations, and cognitive patterns, so that the analysis makes immediate and natural sense.

A resonant model does not force the user to adapt to the data structure.
It is the model that resonates with how the user thinks.

In Power BI, resonance exists when the user:

• understands the report effortlessly,
• intuitively trusts the results,
• and feels that the model “speaks their language”.

Nature

Cognitive, semantic, and experiential.

Resonance is not technical.
It is an emergent property of the user–model relationship.

A model can be:

• correct,
• consistent,
• optimized,

and still fail to resonate if its logic does not match how the user conceptualizes the business.
