Nursing Assistant Duties Summary:

No Nursing Assistant Duties
1 Provides pediatric TeleHealth consultation triage with use of technology (i.e. mobile device, peripheral devices, and telephone). Obtains vital signs and chief complaint for RN consultation.
2 Provides guidance and support during the TeleHealth encounter to ensure a positive patient experience.
3 Responsible for equipment functioning. Notifies RN supervisor of any equipment malfunctions.
4 Assists RN with mandated screenings for BMI, vision, hearing & scoliosis in a timely & efficient manner. Ensures accuracy of documentation & assists RN with initial parent notification of referrals.
5 Reviews health records; enters screening data and interventions at minimum once annually and as required in the student’s cumulative health record.
6 Performs First Aid within scope of practice for students seeking care in the health clinic.
7 Identifies students with chronic conditions, initiates contact with parents, and maintains RN informed of students requiring RN services.
8 Ensures compliance with documentation for each student receiving services.
9 Gathers data for biweekly reporting. Prepares reports as directed by RN supervisor.
10 Maintains a clean and orderly work area. Reports physical environment problems to RN supervisor.
11 Assists leaders and clinical personnel with clerical duties as needed.
12 Takes and records Vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height and weight.
13 Performs/Assists with the personal hygiene and activities of daily living (ADL’s) and documents as needed.
14 Passes out nourishments and water as scheduled or as requested.
15 Communicates any change in patients and/or resident condition to nurse during each shift.
16 Answers call lights within appropriate established timeframe.
17 Maintains patient and/or resident safety at all times.
18 Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
19 Follows the instructions of the nurse in a timely and accurate manner.
20 Provides floor orientation to new employees as needed.
21 Maintains flexibility in assignment changes due to census fluctuation.
22 Maintain your required certifications and mandatory skill updates.
23 Comply with all policies, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
24 Floats to other units as assigned to meet patient and/or resident care needs.
25 Perform other duties as assigned
26 Provides personal care such as: baths, showers, oral hygiene, skin care, hair care, fingernail and toenail care, monitoring fluid intake and output, toileting care, etc.
27 Takes residents vital signs and blood pressure as indicated by nurse and promptly reports findings.
28 Carries out all safety measures for residents and self in body mechanics.
29 Prepare admission packets/supplies for new admissions.
30  Greeting patients and their family/ companions and rooming them.
31 Take medical histories and perform specific assessments for new patients.
32 Handle medication refill requests, insurance prior authorizations, plans of care, and general clinical paperwork.
33 Educate patients, and their family/ caregivers on needed testing/procedures, medications, and share educational materials.
34 Maintain Exam Rooms neat & clean, receive and return patient calls, assist with scheduling, update, and maintain patient records in ECW.
35 Maintain Exam Rooms neat & clean, ready for next patient.
36 Perform personal care activities related to daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, skin care, etc.)
37 Review patient care plans
38 Assist with lifting and transferring patients
39 Assist with range of motion, positioning, exercise, and ambulation
40 Assist with dining and nutrition
41 Maintain electronic medical records
42 Work under the direction of a Case Manager RN

Nursing Assistant Skills Summary:

No Nursing Assistant Skills
1 Experience in healthcare video teleconferencing/telemedicine or audio-visual operations preferred
2 Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
3 Excellent problem solving ability in a broad range of areas to address all of the potential problems that might arise; scheduling conflicts, communication problems, technical problems, etc.
4 Able to work independently
5 Excellent organizational ability to maintain a system with few major problems and addresses the needs of all participants
6 Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with clients, families, and co-workers
7 Proficiency with computers, systems, and software; flexible with apps, phone, etc.
8 Ability to learn appropriate software applications including MS Word, Excel, and data management
9 Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
10 Clear and Active Certified Nursing Assistant certification to practice in the state of Florida
11 Medication Administration Training (6 hours) for Assisted Living Facility (ALF) if applicable
12 CPR certification
13 1 year experience preferred
14 Computer skills sufficient to properly document services and care
15 Must be able to read, write and understand the English language
16 12 months of caregiving experience (required) (Home Care, Assisted Living/Memory Care, Skilled Nursing/Nursing Home, Hospital or Hospice)
17 Current CPR certification (preferred)
18 Hospice experience (preferred)
19 Excellent customer service skills
20 Strong communication (written, verbal, and active listening)
21 Problem-solving skills
22 Time management skills
23 Ability to work in an electronic medical record system
24 Ability to lift 50 lbs.
25 Good understanding of body mechanics
26 Strong understanding of professional boundaries
27 Valid driver’s license (required)
